An Ode To Summer

Longer days and warmer nights – oh how I miss thee… As we embark on the last month of Winter, I can’t help but celebrate the coming joy ☀️

This Winter has taught me to acknowledge and appreciate the beauty and necessity of each season. Even though Winter is cold, wet and pale – it serves as a great opportunity to slow down, practise self-care, reflect and plan ahead 🙌🏾

What I love the most about being a Durbanite (that’s living in Durban, South Africa) is that we experience warmth in and out of seasons. This Winter though, has been the coldest one yet – it has highlighted the reality of climate change and served as a kind reminder to pursue sustainable living 🌱

I am a Spring-baby – it sure feels like I come alive at the start of this season and by the time Summer arrives I am all ready to go! I so look forward to the coming season change and I have chosen this time to look back to last Summer and reminisce✨

Summer 2022/23 was filled with love, warmth and assurance. I shared beautiful moments with my family and some of my closest friends. The vibrant season was ushered in by a trip I took with my family by sea to the Portuguese Islands in Mozambique 🇲🇿

I made sure to be fully present all throughout our family vacation – though, I still took loads of pictures, videos and created a three-part vlog. If you haven’t yet, do watch and share your thoughts via comments – here’s PART ONE, PART TWO and PART THREE  🛳

This was followed by the absolute glory of Christmas time, where some real bonding took place and my Summer-break ended in a crescendo of the NYE Trip I took with friends to the Midlands Meander 🥳

Do you have any fond memories from last Summer? Or is Winter your favourite season? 🥶

Yours – but mine first,
Aphsie

P.S.  Thanks for having a read & I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this topic below…
