This Christmas, I Choose Meaning

‘Tis officially the season—and I find myself slap-bang in the middle of lovingly fulfilling my daughter/sister/aunt/friend duties 🥰

This summer break, I’m intentionally prioritising my relationships and leaning into meaningful one-on-one time with my loved ones—something I don’t quite get the luxury of during the year while I’m deep in work mode 👩🏾‍💻

It’s also a season where I allow myself to truly rest. Even though I’m still catching up on a bit of schoolwork, I’m consciously choosing to savour the Christmas period—to slow down, be present, and enjoy the beauty of togetherness 🎄

For the first time in my life, this festive season has found me in a place where I’m questioning many of the Church’s teachings. This is largely why I identify as The Retired Church Girl. While I don’t have all the answers, this is what I know to be true in my walk with Christianity:

GOD IS REAL

I find myself in what feels like a season of Christian deconstruction. Still, my lived experiences have convinced me beyond a reasonable doubt that there is a Creator and I choose to acknowledge Them as my God 🙌🏾

Some church and biblical teachings don’t quite make sense to me, and I hold space for the understanding that these are, in many ways, shaped by man-made institutions. Because of this, I choose to tread carefully, consciously, and with discernment 👌🏾

LOVE CONQUERS ALL

Love fills my heart and my life. I experience it daily, in different forms, through every being I encounter. I believe that expressing and receiving love should be a priority—not just during Christmas, but always ❤️‍🔥

I BELIEVE IN MYSELF
I believe that I am complete.
I believe that I come with luck.
I believe that I am the light✨

If there’s one thing I am UP_bsolutely sure of, it’s this: I am alive—and I have the power to give my life meaning and purpose. And so, I will 💯

I believe that God created me in Their image, and that my greatest commission is to manifest the vision seeded in my heart. With that, I encourage you to cherish this season—rest deeply, love intentionally, and enjoy it fully with those you hold dear. Merry Christmas❣️

Yours (but mine first),
