To be or not to be? Ready to enjoy the luxury of shopping from your home? How about trusting an online store with your banking details? I know – the many online-money fraud stories we’ve heard make this quite challenging to do…
With so many of our trusted department stores, such as Woolworths, Pick ‘n Pay and Checkers, heading the online shop route – this can only be an indication that ALL shopping will be done online soon, right? In that case let us learn more about this movement before we find ourselves left behind because of fear 🕵🏾♀️
I did some looking around and found six great Online Shopping Tips from staysafeonline.org:
Conduct research
When using a new website for purchases, read reviews and see if other consumers have had a positive or negative experience with the site 👌🏾
When in doubt, throw it out
Links in emails, posts and texts are often the ways cybercriminals try to steal your information or infect your devices, so be on the lookout 👀
Personal information is like money: value it and protect it
When making a purchase online, be alert to the kinds of information being collected to complete the transaction. Make sure you think it is necessary for the vendor to request that information. Remember, you only need to fill out required fields at checkout 💯
Use safe payment options
Credit cards are generally the safest option because they allow buyers to seek a credit from the issuer if the product isn’t delivered or isn’t what was ordered 🙌🏾
Don’t be disappointed
Read return and other polices so you know what to expect if the purchase doesn’t go as planned 🙃
Protect your money
When shopping, check to be sure the site is security enabled. Look for web addresses with ‘https://’ indicating extra measures to help secure your information 🔐
Remember, if you’re scared of the idea of shopping online then you probably don’t know much about it and should familiarise yourself with it. You can do this by reading/asking about it and practising it 👩🏾💻

Sometimes I’m scared to try it out because I’m scared I will be addicted and it will be so easy to spend money at the click of a button! Useful tips though!
Hahaha! That’s such a great point Buhle! I guess it’s also here to build our discipline ??
It can be a challenge, and I agree…but, everything now is online lol. http://www.brownsugarglam.com
So true @Browsugarglam, I will check you out!!
Shopping online can be very convenient, but there is always the worry in the back of my mind that something will go wrong (mainly with the security of the site/my banking information). However, I tend to stick to well established sites and have found it much easier overall. I enjoy doing it but try not to do it too much!
& convenient it is – those are great ways to stay safe, happy shopping ♡
